LG Electronics Inc., South Korea's second-largest electronics maker, said Monday it has developed the world's first handsets based on DVB-H and Media FLO mobile broadcasting standards.
DVB-H, or digital video broadcasting-handheld, developed by Nokia Corp, supports such wireless communications frameworks as GSM, GPRS and WCDMA, many of which are used in Europe.
Media FLO refers to wireless broadcasting standard "Media Forward Link only" developed by chip maker Qualcomm Inc.
Currently, there are three mobile broadcasting standards -- South Korea's digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), Europe's DVB-H and Japan's ISDB-T. [Yahoo News]
