BAYAN Muna Party-list Representative Teodoro Casiño has filed a bill requiring all government agencies to use and develop open source-based applications and solutions.
The bill will "lower overall cost of ICT in the public and private sectors by reducing the country's dependence on proprietary software and computer applications," according to the explanatory note on Casiño's proposed legislation. [Link]
