DVD Forum defines China-only HD DVD-ROM spec

Based on the physical format, the Chinese group plans to define a proprietary video format.

Physical specs mostly parallel current HD DVD-ROM specs—a 12-cm disk with two 0.6-mm-thick platters and a single layer with 15-Gbyte capacity. Only the modulation codec differs. For the HD DVD family, ETM (8 data bit/12 channel bit modulation) is used, but the China-only version employs FSM (4 data bit/6 channel bit modulation) codec. [Link]

Mozilla Firefox browser market share still growing

Mozilla Firefox global browser market share still growing, as data from a Web metrics company Net Applications shows. Apple Computer's Safari browser market share is also growing.

Qt 4.2 Released

Trolltech has announced the release of version 4.2 of Qt. This version includes a number of improvements and performance optimizations, such as Enhanced widget styleability, more UI control, New, advanced 2D canvas, Qt/Mac look and feel improvements and Tighter integration with the GNOME desktop environment.
